George is a young Tasmanian winemaker who grew up surrounded by vines on his family's 6-hectare vineyard. He learned the art of winemaking and growing from his family, who first planted vines in the Coal River Valley in 1992.

At just 17, George continued the family tradition. Making quality wines, now under the label Third Child. His goal? To make exceptional low-intervention wines that showcase Tasmania's unique cool climate terroir. allowing every wine to express itself to its full potential.

Third Child is a labor of Georges love: Believing that all things should be kept simple, but have a high standard of quality. He’s really after an easy going drink full of beautiful characters and flavours that can be enjoyed and shared by anyone.

George has gained experience beyond his family's vineyard, having worked vintages at renowned Tasmanian wineries such as Moorilla (MONA) and Frogmore Creek. Through these experiences, George has refined his craft.

Today, Third Child Wines stands as a celebration of
Tasmania's winemaking heritage. Each bottle embodies George’s passion for the art of winemaking.

where I like to enjoy the wine

My favourite thing to do when I have some free time or the weather permits is to hike. My favourite places are in the Walls of Jerusalem National Park and the Central Plateau. I’m always thinking of my next trip out there.

In my opinion, one of the best ways to enjoy a Third Child wine is at the end of the day, after a long walk with a few friends. It’s not always the most glamorous way to have the wine, but it certainly is the most stunning and rewarding way to enjoy it. After a solid day, it feels good to relax and enjoy the luxuries of home.
